Well more like the wizard formally known as “Prince”. Overall I was a bit skeptical before going to see this flick – after all, some previous Potter movies had let me down in the past. But being very open-minded (and still a little anxious) I went on a Sunday morning since I had heard it was selling out since it opened last Friday.

2 and half-bloody hours later I emerged from the film a bit surprised. Overall, not a bad movie at all. I was most concerned on how bad the producers would cut and rip apart the story to fit it in the allotted time. They did a bang-up job I must say. It was a good book (the sixth book in the series) which was focused on plot and character development mainly. Some parts of the book were not very necessary to be int he movie, and rightly so, they did not show them. They rearranged some sequence of events, but no real harm was done to the flow.

I will not go into the details of the film or story, you can view that here. *SPOILER WARNING*

I thought the cinematography was good, many scenes were of course in CG. The overall feel/mood was somber, dark, foreboding and spooky at times, which was exactly what the book felt like while reading it. The CG creatures were very well done (some even resembled a famous Gollum from Lord of the Rings). The sound effects and score was once again extremely well done and added a lot to some static scenes. Here is a scene from the film

I really only had issues with the acting. I really thought the acting this time was not top-notch, especially from the most important lead characters. The emotion was not there half the time, or too much at the wrong time. I didn’t think J.K. Rowling intended for most of her characters to be like programed robot-wizards. It’s almost like they have lost their enthusiasm to be in the movie. They better get their act together for the next and final movie. Some good acting included the little kid Voldemort, or Tom Riddle (played by Hero Fiennes Tiffin). That kid was freaking creepy, kinda like Ben Linus from the TV series LOST creepy. He was a good choice for the character. And of course, Professor Snape (played by Alan Rickman) was an awesome character.

Speaking of the final movie, that will have much more action than this film had, plan to see more emotional drama, magic explosions and some other outrageous stuff.

Overall I would give it 3 out of 5 stars and say if you have read the books and our a fan of the series, go and see it. However if you have no interest in this kind of thing and you don’t dream at night, don’t waste your time and money, go see something else like G-Force, the amazing rapping hamster.
